At Marchand's School of Dance, we LOVE to dance! Our school has been a leader in dance education for more than 45 years. We believe that our success comes as a result of providing solid training and quality service. Along with an underlying belief that every child should experience the wonderful world of dance in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.
Under the direction of Marge Marchand since 1976, Marchand's School of Dance has developed into one of the most progressive dance studio's on Long Island. Miss Margie has incorporated her college degree in education with dance technique to form a loving, character building format that has helped thousands of students dream, believe and achieve their goals
The "Marchand Approach" is more than just instruction in dance technique, encouraged are lasting friendships among students, instructors and community. Marchand's School of Dance began in Miss Margie's home in Coram in 1976 where she taught her neighborhood children how to dance. After 10 years in her home the school had grown to 200 students so Marchand's School of Dance moved to Miller Place. At this time Miss Margie's daughter, Miss Sommer, had matured into one of the finest dance instructors on Long Island. Miss Sommer has become the "Pied Piper of Dance!" Now in Miller Place, Marchand's School of Dance has grown to over 400 students and continues to grow! We build lasting relationships with our students in fact, most of our instructors are former students who have stayed on to lead the next generation of dancers. And many former students who are now adults bring their children to Marchand's where they are taught and nurtured as if they were the first student who has ever walked into the school.
Our dance instructors are supportive of your child's needs and learning abilities. Our staff is always ready for their student's needs. They will make sure their problems disappear through dance. One day a young girl came to class and said to Miss Sommer "I am having a terrible day!" Miss Sommer answered, "That is about to change..."
No matter what your age is, we have a class designed for you! Have fun while learning to dance!
We are very lucky to have the gift of dance lessons. Dance is an art, not a competitive sport. We perform, we don't compete. We feel strongly about giving back to our community and those less fortunate than ourselves. Each year we offer special projects for our students to participate in, benefiting various charitable organizations. Our students learn to "PAY IT FORWARD" year after year.
Our staff is committed to giving every child their full attention and helping the student feel comfortable to dance. Marchand's is a place where everyone knows your name. We are YOUR dance family!
At Marchand's, we believe that dance education encompasses far more than the technique or steps your child will learn. Dance training gives everyone a better understanding of commitment through teamwork and a sense of belonging.
